Domashny Ochag’s Editorial Director Attends Women’s Day Summit
Domashny Ochag Editorial Director Natalia Rodikova was a speaker at the Forbes Woman Day summit. Ms. Rodikova took part in the session «Female means social».
Discussing why fewer women lead commercial companies, but more lead NGOs, Ms. Rodikova said: «Is it good that there are so many women in socially-oriented organizations? Yes. Is it good that so few men are present? No. Is this because women are more sensitive and have a «kindness gene»? Yes to the first – no to the second. Male gender socialization is such that, from childhood, boys encounter a ban on emotions, on games in which they could express empathetic behaviors. As a result, they grow into men who do not know how to feel… They do not understand what others are going through or see when they’re having problems. The question is not whether this is natural for them, but whether they were given such an opportunity».
