Domashny Ochag New Year’s Celebration

The Domashny Ochag Institute held New Year’s parties for children from Dec. 21 to 26. For an entire week, the institute turned into a fairytale land: the hall was decorated with beautiful tinsel and lights, and standing in the center was a large Christmas tree adorned with handmade cookies.

The New Year’s parties at the Domashny Ochag Institute were not just entertaining, but also an interesting, interactive, educational and, most importantly, useful experience. The children learned many new craft and cooking skills.

The Snow Maiden was on hand to teach the kids how to make ornaments and paint them with beautiful designs, so the children can now decorate Christmas trees with decorations they made themselves. Grandfather Frost showed the children how to decorate gingerbread cookies, and everyone created some really fancy and fun gingerbread trees and men. Many children wrapped up their cookies to give their mothers, but a few couldn’t wait and ate them on the spot.

The party ended with the Snow Maiden teaching all the children how to do the boogie-woogie. They danced in a circle with her and Grandfather Frost, recited poems, sang songs and performed skits they had prepared beforehand. Grandfather Frost encouraged the kids to wish for their most secret desires and promised that all their wishes would come true in the New Year.

Afterward, each child could take a keepsake photograph with Grandfather Frost and the Snow Maiden.
