Half-a-Teaspoon of Art with Domashny Ochag

An unusual photo exhibit will be held as part of the Domashny Ochag Festival that runs from December 11 to 13 at the Central House of Artists.

In the playful book by Swedish writer and illustrator Sven Nordqvist “Merry Christmas Festus and Mercury,” Festus and his cat, Mercury, rush to decorate their home before Christmas. They have almost finished the job, and have only to decorate the tree and prepare the holiday dinner, when something goes wrong…Festus slips and hurts his leg with the result that he cannot go to the woods to cut down a tree or to the store to buy food for the Christmas dinner. Festus and Mercury have just about lost all hope of having a joyous Christmas celebration when, unexpectedly, in walk their neighbors bearing various homemade treats. Festus and Mercury have the finest Christmas dinner of their lives.

The idea of good neighborliness and the old tradition of always bringing homemade treats when visiting someone’s home permeates all of the work on display at the photo exhibition “Half-a-Teaspoon of Art: Celebrating a Merry Christmas with Festus and Mercury.” The theme is the process of preparing dishes for the Christmas meal. Every photograph will call up pleasant childhood memories for exhibit guests and produces sweet anticipation of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
