National Geographic Russia Selects Best Photographers

National Geographic Russia magazine has chosen the winners of its sixth annual photo contest, Wildlife of Russia 2016. The jury selected the winning entries in a number of categories from more than 55,000 photographs. 

The jury created a shortlist of approximately 500 works from which they selected the most outstanding images. As usual, the most interesting photos were those in the Landscape category. “Photographs in the Underwater and Young Talent categories were also pleasantly surprising,” National Geographic Russia art director Alevtina Sukhorukova said.

Jury members included Darren Smith (deputy editorial director of international NG editions), Andrei Palamarchuk (NG Russia editor-in-chief), Andrei Kamenev (NG Russia chief photographer), Sergei Gorshok (NG Russia contributing photographer) and Alexei Yelfimov (photo editor and SMM specialist for the nat-geo.ru site). General partner to the competition B&N Bank’s chief manager of marketing communications and branding Vladas Vintsyunac took part in choosing the winner for the special category “The Energy of Life.”

The names of the contest winners will be announced in December at the opening of the exhibition of their works in the Central House of Artists on Krymsky Val in Moscow.
