Personnel Changes at Vedomosti Newspaper

The Sanoma Independent Media publishing house announces personnel changes at the Vedomosti daily business newspaper.

Effective June 1, current Vedomosti marketing and development director Dzhamilya Iskandyarova will become the newspaper’s digital projects publisher with responsibility for the development and financial success of the Vedomosti.ru website and Vedomosti mobile device applications.

On the same date, current Vedomosti mobile applications director Sergei Podshivalin will become product director with responsibility for the technical development of the newspaper’s digital product line.

“Dzhamilya has played a crucial role in monetization as Vedomosti made the transition to a paid access model,” said Mikhail Dubik, CEO of Vedomosti publisher Business News Media and member of the SIM board of directors. “And under Sergei’s direction, Vedomosti mobile applications have developed rapidly and qualitatively, and the iOS applications have been a big hit on the market this year. Vedomosti newspaper management and shareholders are confident that the powerful tandem forming will take the Vedomosti digital business to a new level,” he said.

According to NRS-Russia, 16+ for the period of September 2012 to February 2013, the print version of the newspaper has a readership of more than 143,000 people. Hits to Vedomosti website pages increased by 25 percent last year, surpassing 25 million per month. Vedomosti.ru has successfully used a pay-to-view model since 2011, with the number of paid subscribers to the online version of the newspaper exceeding 12,000 in May 2013. The Vedomosti community on Facebook includes 550,000 people — as compared to 569,000 people for the Financial Times. The Vedomosti mobile applications for the iPhone and iPad are ranked No. 1 in the Apple App Store download kiosk, with 317,932 downloads on May 1, 2013.
