Black Sea Cup by Men’s Health

The Black Sea Cup by Men’s Health – the largest windsurfing and kiteboarding competition in Russia – was held in Anapa from September 19 to 26. A strong wind and participation by Men’s Health magazine were the highlights of the 2010 Black Sea Cup.

A total of 278 athletes hailing from 39 Russian cities took part in the Russian windsurfing and kiteboarding championship, with more than 40 more people responsible for organizing and judging the competition. Kiteboarding world champion and frequent hero of Men’s Health magazine Pyotr Tyushkevich served as a judge for the Russian kiteboarding championship.

Windsurfing races were staged in Anapa’s Little Bay and the kiteboarders fought it ought in the Golenky Kiziltashsky estuary. On one of the days, an exhibition performance was held in freestyle windsurfing – the most spectacular discipline in the sport. Seven participants, including world freestyle star Olga Raskina, demonstrated their outstanding skill by performing all of the basic Top 10 tricks.

Men’s Health Magazine traditionally supports mass sporting events, advocating the need for and benefits of a healthy lifestyle. This year, an especially full entertainment program was organized by the magazine and Volkwagen Amarok, automotive partner to the event. It included a welcome party for the contestants, a daily video diary, a concert by Noize MC, a kiting party, large-scale awards ceremony and concerts by Kasta and the Flammable Beats DJ group. 

The gala awards ceremony was held on Sunday. Contestants in all classes and disciplines in both sports received trophies, medals, certificates, diplomas and valuable prizes from Animal, Sonim, Cabrinha, NPX and O’Neil Wetsuits.

The winners of the 2010 Black Sea Cup by Men’s Health were:

Russian Men’s RSX Olympic class windsurfing champion: Dmitry Polishchuk (Sochi);
Russian Women’s RSX Olympic class windsurfing champion: Tatiana Bazyuk (Sochi);
Russian Men’s Formula class windsurfing champion: Vadim Yevteyev (Taganrog);
Russian Men’s freestyle kiteboarding champion: Yevgeny Novozheyev (Moscow);
Russian Women’s freestyle kiteboarding champion: Svetlana Turchin (Taganrog);
Russian Men’s course race kiteboarding champion: Maxim Shaidakov (Yaroslavl).

The Windsurfing and Kitesurfing Federation along with Men’s Health magazine organized the event. Volkswagen Amarok acted as automobile partner. The official telephone of the event was the Sonim XP3.20 Quest Pro. The official clothing was by Animal and water for the event was provided by Seryab.
