Esquire Hosts Evening of Creativity

Esquire magazine brought together its friends and business partners for an evening of creativity at the Gogol Center in Moscow on March 10.

In his welcoming speech, Esquire editor-in-chief Sergei Minaev thanked the event partners and presented the new March issue, which focuses on drama theaters in Russia’s smaller cities and features the actors from Moscow’s Gogol Theater. Theater head and leading director Kirill Serebrennikov appears on the cover.

Guests were treated to dramatic readings by actors featured in the magazine: Igor Bychkov, Irina Vybornova, and Odin Biron performed the Chuck Palahniuk story “Secrecy,” while Yevgeny Sangadzhiev and Ilya Romashko performed the Terry Bisson story “They’re Made Out of Meat.” The dialogues were accompanied by sound impressions by Russian beatboxer Vakhtang Kalandadze.

A mini-concert by singer Manizhi followed, and Sergei Minaev wrapped up the evening by reading his column about the cosmos and changes that have taken place in the country.

The evening’s celebrity guests included Kirill Serebrennikov, Alexander Arutyunov, Anton Sevidov, Tash Sarkisyan, Kirill Rikhter, Irina Chaikovskaya, Maga Umkhaev, Alisa Kretova and others.
