Popular Lectures in Leading Moscow Universities

In September, Popular Mechanics magazine will hold its Popular Lectures series at the Moscow Aviation Institute and the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

On September 16 at 3 p.m. in the MAI Palace of Culture and Technology, astrophysicist, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences and leading Sternberg Astronomical Institute lecturer Sergei Popov speak about exoplanets, why scientists study the composition of distant planets and what future discoveries are expected.

The lecture will take place in the small lecture hall at 4A Dubosekovskaya Street. Admission is free for MAI students. All other guests must present a copy of the September issue of Popular Mechanics to attend.

On September 23 at 4 p.m. in the teaching laboratory building of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Popular Mechanics editor Timofei Skorenko will conduct a workshop “How to become an inventor.” How are new gadgets, devices and games developed and who creates them? What does a person have to know and how should he think in order to create something useful? How can you find out if something you created already exists, and how can one go about financing the project and start a business? We are surrounded by dozens of problems and tasks, and yet the solutions often lie close at hand.

The workshop will address these and many other questions, and will also give students an opportunity to find quick solutions to interesting invention tasks.
