Fashion Master Class from Grazia Magazine

On July 18th, Grazia magazine organized a master class with famous designers in BlackBerry Café as part of the annual Grazia Contest for Young Designers.

This year, participants were expected to complete a creative task and make two different  looks: a suit from the 60s and a velvet floor-length dress. These two trends became the themes of the master class. The program was opened by designer Yekaterina Pertsova, the author of the book “My Yves Saint Laurent,” who has worked for the famous fashion house for 20 years. She spoke about how 60s style was created, what conditions caused the fashion trends of that era, and how society affected the way women looked.

The next speaker, Anna Direchina, focused on velvet dresses, showed several models of her own and revealed some interesting secrets. The conversation was then continued by designer Yelena Vassilieva, who is rightly considered an expert in the design of floor-length dresses. She spoke of the nuances of creating floor-length dresses, paid special attention to the peculiarities of work with velvet and showed some of her own models.

Quite a few movie stars and show business celebrities came to learn about the fashion trends and get involved in the conversation. Among the guests were actresses Yekaterina Voulichenko, Anastasia Makeeva, Natalya Kosteneva, designer Maria Kravtsova (Marika), well-known buyer and fashion expert Konstantin Andrikopulos, ballet dancers Olga Kuzmina and Inna Ginkevich, fashion expert Oleg Tarnopolsky and others. Celebrities took an active part in the conversation and asked questions.

As for young designers, they were happy to speak to recognized fashion experts and had a unique opportunity to consult on their sketches with Gala Borzova and Maria Pototskaya, experts from the Moscow Art Industrial Institute. The party was hosted Ru.TV VJ Dance Desyuk, who entertained guests with jokes and participated in the conversation on fashion.

The evening’s summery atmosphere was full of creativity and joy. Guests had the chance to become familiar with fashion and design and participate in master classes organized by Die_blonde and Katya Dobryakova, as well as take photos in the Nikon fashion studio and get their photographs taken in front of the Grazia cover. Experts from Redken 5th Avenue NYC made creative hair sets. The friendly mood of the evening was supported by light snacks and drinks from Redd’s, the official brand of the fashion show and the contest.

The event was undoubtedly a success, and Grazia Contest for Young Designers continues. The participants’ projects are due by September 4th at with notes: Designer – for designers; Hairstyle – for hairstylists; Make-up – for make-up artists.
