Viadeo: Initial Results in Russia

As of Nov. 1, 2012, the Viadeo international social network for professionals had 190,000 registered users, well exceeding the initial goal of attracting 150,000 users by that date.

The Sanoma Independent Media publishing house and the Viadeo international social network for professionals launched the Russian language version of the service in February 2012, with operations beginning in full that spring. In addition to simply translating the service for Russian users, the project introduced special services tailored for the Russian audience. For example, premier Viadeo services that users in other countries must pay for are free to Russian users. Russians can make use of the recruiter service (with automatic access to up to three vacancies at once) and download RSS feeds from Russian publications, enabling them to customize the Smart News service to Russian content.

Natalia Moiseyenkova, CEO of Viadeo Russia said, “We are proud to note that 30 percent of the new users each day come through Viral Acquisition, meaning that those users join Viadeo at the invitation of previously registered users. That is a very important indicator for us.”
