First Master Class from National Geographic Russia Photo School
The National Geographic Russia magazine photo school opened its doors on September 25 with support from the Photoproyekt company.
Tickets to the first lesson – “Why photography? Photographic projects from concept to publication” – sold out within days. It turned out that far more people wanted to attend the master class by Alexander Sorin, regular contributor to the magazine and renowned photographer, than there were places at the photo school. A second selection process was therefore announced to accommodate people at a repeat seminar on October 3.
The luckiest National Geographic fans who managed to attend the opening of the school on September 25 were the first to learn the trade secrets of the famous photographer. Alexander Sorin responded to such questions: Why do we take pictures? If we are not on assignment, how do we choose a subject and create a composition, and who is the intended audience? The subjects Sorin touched on turned out to be so interesting for those attending and generated so many questions that the session lasted 40 minutes longer than scheduled.
At upcoming photo school lessons, NG photographers will explain how to work in different genres of photography, how to come up with photo story ideas and then realize them with the camera and what to do with the photos once they are finished. They will also share photo processing secrets, give recommendations on how to get your photos published in magazines and much more.
