New Issue of National Geographic Traveler

The newest issue of National Geographic Traveler offers readers 10 budget journeys. “The Top Ten” is one of the magazine’s most popular columns, and this time NG Traveler correspondents worked out itineraries for inexpensive vacations. Readers learn where to go, how to get there, where to stay, what to eat, how to have fun – and all without spending an insane amount of money. Destination countries include Abkhazia, Poland, Ethiopia, Bulgaria, France and others.

Also in this issue:

Strategy: everything you need to know about shopping, including where to buy jewelry items, when discounts start in various countries and what to buy this season. Answers to all of those questions can be found in the February-March issue. Also: the addresses of the world’s best stores.

Guide to Madrid: the city through the eyes of local residents. This article tells readers what tapas are and how to eat them, where to view rare paintings in the private collections of the Thyssen-Bornemisza, how to ride an electric car around the zoo, whether it’s worth it to haggle at the flea market and where to quickly change your clothes.

National Geographic Adventure:

The best diving spot on the planet – plunging into a water-filled marble quarry.

Karelia and an excursion into a meteor crater in the coral reefs.

Special report: underwater Palau – swimming with giant skates and manta rays that ancient peoples considered devils of the sea.

The magazine goes on sale February 15.
