Yes!-Stars in New Film by Timur Bekmambetov

Yes!-Stars magazine will act as the informational sponsor for the film Black Lightning – the new project by Timur Bekmambetov, creator of the films Night Watch, Day Watch, Irony of Fate: the Continuation and Highly Dangerous.

Black Lightning is the first Russian-made superhero action movie. It tells the story of how an ordinary student is transformed into the defender of his city, a secret foe of Evil. The action takes place in the present, with 20-year-old Dima Maikov receiving a vintage Volga-21 from his father and discovering unexpectedly that it can fly like a jet airplane. Our hero soars above the capital’s traffic jams with no worries or aims, just enjoying the view, until tragedy strikes and forces him to look at the world differently.

The movie uses the most modern computer graphics, effects and technology. One hundred models of the car were made. A special aviation simulator was even used to make sure that the car flew according to the laws of aerodynamics. Most of the computer graphics sequences were based on live action material using real barnstormers. For the scene in which a car crashes into the wall, an actual cannon was built to fire a 700-kilogram automobile at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour.

Black Lightning is a human story, a story about choices and of course, a story about true love. The picture is filled not only with such young actors as Grigory Dobrygin, Yekaterina Vilkova and Ivan Zhidkov, but also with such luminaries of Russian cinema as Sergei Garmash, Viktor Verzhbitsky, Valery Zolotukhin, Mikhail Yefremov and others. The movie was directed by Alexander Voitinsky and Dmitry Kiselyov.

The film raises themes that are both simple and familiar to Yes!-Stars readers: love, good and evil and the happiness of our loved ones. As a result, the Yes!-Stars magazine is depicted both visually and verbally in a scene filmed at Moscow State University.

As informational sponsor, the publication’s logo was placed on the following advertising vehicles of the project campaign: city formats, movie theater calendars, fliers and stickers, posters for institutes and schools, rotary ads on plasma screens on the day of the premiere, brochures and press packets. A special showing of the movie is also planned for readers and business partners of the magazine. The advertising campaign began on December 1.

The first Russian superhero film – promising to start a new chapter in the history of Russian cinema – will begin showing in theaters on December 31.
