National Geographic Russia at “Dzift” Film Premiere

National Geographic Russia magazine acted as informational partner to the Dzift art house film by Bulgarian director Javor Gyrdev that premiered on May 20 at the Formula Kino Horizon movie theater.

The film – a modern Bulgarian director’s retrospective look at that country’s totalitarian regime in the 1960s – won the Moscow International Film Festival’s 2008 prize for best director. The soundtrack of period Soviet songs gave the events depicted a simultaneously humorous and eerie feel.

Before the screening, people in the theater lobby could fill out questionnaires and receive complimentary copies of National Geographic Russia. The screening opened by showing the magazine’s logo, and during subsequent premier screenings of Dzift, six half-year subscriptions to National Geographic Russia were awarded to owners of “Malina” cards through a lottery drawing.
