National Geographic Traveler Told of Travelogue Books

Another meeting has been held as part of the “Notes along the Way” project. This is an ongoing course organized by the Cloudwatcher Club and National Geographic Traveler for all travelers who dream of learning how to write about their travels in striking and interesting language and to publish their works in specialized publications.

The theme of the latest master class - “Travel and Literature” - was dedicated to the recent release of a series of travelogue books.

Emmanuel Duran conducted the meeting. A philosopher, Duran has been in the publishing business for the last 12 years, and since 2003 has served as the general director of Paulsen European Publications that publishes travelogue book series.

Duran told his listeners about the travelogue genre and about legendary writers who created their works in that style. He also touched on the problems encountered in creating and publishing books in that genre in Russia and abroad. During the seminar, listeners could leaf through travelogues already published in Russia. Duran fielded questions from participants after the meeting.

At the conclusion of the series, the organizers will publish a booklet titled “Notes along the Way” containing the best theoretical and practical materials presented during the course.
