Vedomosti: 10 Years in Business

Vedomosti will celebrate its 10th birthday on September 7, 2009. In the run-up to its anniversary, the publication will introduce a special weekly column relating the most significant events of the last 10 years - the most striking corporate stories and fortunes, evaluations of each year, facts, analyses, and a look back at those events from the viewpoint of experts and participants. Advis

The first special column appeared on February 24 and was dedicated to the last aluminum wars in Russia.

"Our newspaper will turn 10 years old on September 7, 2009," said Elizaveta Osetinskaya, Vedomosti's editor-in-chief. "Over the course of those 10 years, we dug up quite a number of stories, facts, pieces of evidence and testimonies. Among them are stories, the central figures of which would like to erase from the memories of all concerned. But reading old newspapers is very useful sometimes. Many events that seemed isolated and happenstance, now fit together into a logical picture. And after the passage of years, some stories read as not only hard-hitting, but seem to be positively illuminating. Those are the kinds of stories from 1999 - 2009 that we will again tell our readers in the new weekly column '10 Years in Business,'" Osetinskaya said.

Vedomosti is a unique project in print media. Two world leaders among business publications - the Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal - teamed up with Independent Media Sanoma Magazines, the largest publishing house in Russia, to publish Vedomosti, which has been in print since 1999.
