The Best Private Investor
The main goal of the contest is to demonstrate how much profit private investors can generate by making skilled use of the term market tools - futures and options. The total prize money of 1 million rubles was broken down as follows: 1st prize - 500,000 rubles, 2nd prize - 200,000 rubles, 3rd prize - 150,000 rubles. The winner is the investor who has generated the most income from their stock market operations as of the end of trading at 5:45 p.m. on December 5, 2008.
In addition to the top finishers, awards will be given in six categories: Best Trade Robot, Best Human Trader, Best Millionaire Trader, Best Options Trader, Best Night Trader and Best Female Trader.
This year’s contest gives participants more opportunity for executing various financial maneuvers, with 40 futures that include contracts on gold, silver, oil, sugar, the dollar exchange rate, RTS sector indices as well as 17 options. Contest rules prohibit the use of other trading tools. Final performance results will be tallied as of December 2008. So far, more than 70 percent of the operations are in RTS-listed futures, with about 7 percent of the trading focused on short-term contracts on both Sberbank and Gazprom shares.
