Concert in honour of The Moscow Times

Moscow Symphonic Orchestra will open the autumn season with three concerts in honour of the 15th anniversary of The Moscow Times, Russia's leading English-language daily. The first concert was given on September 25, in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. The director and main conductor of the orchestra Vladimir Ziva conducted this concert, and one of the Alina Baeva, one of Russia's brightest young violinists, was invited as the soloist. "Petrushka" by Igor Stravinsky, Concert #1 for violin and orchestra by Sergey Prokofiev, and Symphony #2 by Alexander Borodin made up the concert program.

Moscow Symphonic Orchestra (МSО) is considered to be one of the best orchestras in Moscow. It is the first independent orchestra in Russia, and exists without any governmental support. It was formed in 1989. The orchestra has won its audience due to high quality performances and an interesting repertoire.
