New Venue for Popular Lectures

In November, Popular Mechanics magazine will hold its Popular Lectures series at Moscow’s Digital October center located at Bersenevskaya Naberezhnaya 6, on the premises of the former Red October chocolate factory.

On November 6 at 7:30 p.m. psychologist Sergei Matz will discuss how thoughts originate and questions like: What are thoughts? Where do they come from and where do they go? Why do some people have more thoughts than others? What strategies for thinking exist and which are the most effective? Can everyone learn to think logically, and if so, how?

On November 11 at 7:30 p.m. astrophysicist Sergei Popov will speak on “The mysteries of a planet’s life and death.” How did our solar system and its planets form? How do planets orbiting other stars form? What happens during the early stages of a planet’s existence and how do planets die? Is there really a “hidden” planet in our solar system  that is several times heavier than Earth and five to 10 times more distant than Pluto? Could anything force Earth from its orbit or cause it to crash into the sun? Find answers to these questions and more at the lecture.

Admission to each lectures costs 350 rubles. Tickets are available just before each lecture.
