Heike Rosener Heads Sanoma Media Russia & CEE
Heike Rosener has been appointed CEO of Sanoma Media Russia & CEE. She also becomes a Sanoma board member effective Feb. 1, 2012. Rosener replaces Koos Guis, who retired on Jan. 1, 2012.
Rosener joins Sanoma after working for the Germany media company Bertelsmann. She will now work in Warsaw under Sanoma president and CEO Harri-Pekka Kaukonen. At the regional office, Rosener will be able to quickly respond to any issues that arise.
Harri-Pekka Kaukonen said, “I am glad that Heike Rosener has joined our team. Heike is one of the few media market professionals with a strong knowledge of the specifics of the regional business. We must develop our multimedia portfolio, solve the problems with decreased circulation and the gradual transition to digital format and respond to the worsening economic situation overall. I am certain that Heike will cope with these challenges splendidly.”
“I am very pleased to join Sanoma to continue strengthening the already strong position of Sanoma Media Russia & CEE,” Heike Rosener said. “The market does pose difficult problems for us, but I am confident that our experience, combined with the professionalism of our division, will help Sanoma Media Russia & CEE reach its full potential.”
Heike Rosener, 42, was born in Germany. A specialist in Slavic and German literature, Rosener received additional education at the Harvard Business School. She headed the Weka publishing house in the German and Polish division of Bertelsmann. After working for a time as a consultant to international media companies, Rosener returned to Bertelsmann in 2002 to become the CEO of the Polish division.
Sanoma Media Russia & CEE works in the markets of nine Eastern European countries, with Russia and Hungary being the most important. The regional division holds a strong position in the magazine and digital media markets.
