Popular Mechanics Lectures in November

A new project from Popular Mechanics magazine, Popular Speakers, got off to a successful start on September 1. More than 2,000 people have attended the lectures in the two months the program has been in operation. In September and October, the talks were given in the M’ARS Centre for Contemporary Art on Tsvetnoy Bulvar.

In November, Popular Speakers will move to the large hall of the 35mm movie theater. The hall has 500 seats, large enough to accommodate everyone attending the November lecture series that will discuss electromagnetic weapons, a fifth-generation fighter jet, sports medicine and doping.

November’s speakers are leading scholars and specialists in their fields and will include Alexander Prishchepenko, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, corresponding member of the Academy of Military Sciences of Russia and the author of several books; Oleg Kustov, Rear Admiral, retired adviser to the president of the “Mönch” international publishing group and chief editor of “Military Parade” and “Fazotron” magazines; Nikolai Durmanov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, former head of the anti-doping service of Ros-Sport and the head of the Continental Hockey League.

The lectures will be held on November 1, 8, 15 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the large hall of the 35mm movie theater at building 47/24 Pokrovka Street in Moscow. There is a charge for admission. Details are available at www.popmech.ru.
