Domashny Ochag Book Receives International Award

The Domashny Ochag book “Home Menu. Recipes from Your Favorite Magazine” (from Exmo publishers) received the Gourmand World Cookbook Award for Best Cookbook Design.

The book “Home Menu. Recipes from Your Favorite Magazine” is not just a flashy collection of recipes from among the thousands that Domashny Ochag has gathered over the years of its existence. The book contains recipes for salads and appetizers, soups and hot dishes, baked goods, desserts and even home preserves, as well as lots of useful tips that are always apropos: how to substitute for unfamiliar ingredients, how to quickly and effectively embellish dishes and how to choose natural and healthy products. Nowhere near all of the recipes in the magazine’s archives were included in this book, and that is why it is only the first in a series of culinary books from Domashny Ochag.

The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards is the world’s only independent international competition for culinary books. The goal of the award is to help readers select the best books from among the tens of thousands of culinary and wine publications produced every year. The contest was founded in 1995 at the Edouard Cointreau International Book Fair in Frankfurt. The Cointreau surname is famous in Europe for the Cointreau liquor brand and Remi Marten cognac. Edouard Cointreau is also a descendent of the famous French writer, François Rabelais.

Publishers from more than 136 countries took part in the 2009 competition.
